Gentrification

Gentrification is a white word

It's absurd

I took an uber in my neighborhood today

And witnessed how everything is not okay

Williamsburg is losing its character

By a housing massacre

More similar gray condos that we can't afford

Just because they're wealthy and bored

Our color being washed away

Every day

Brooklyn looks like Manhattan

What is happening?

Whites moving into our neighborhood

When they know nothing about being in the hood

Luxury condos right across the street from the projects

I don't even want to know what's next

Glaring lights at night like this is Yankee Stadium

Those lights are not for us, they're for them

All of a sudden the cracks on the sidewalks being fixed

What did we miss?

It took white people to move into our neighborhoods for you to actually care?

You would think things would change

But there's still people being shot

Right on our block

They keep protecting the wrong hood

And wonder why we don't trust the cops

Not even the ones that look like us

Wow, look it's another bar

You've taken things too far
